Bar inside lorry opening at Lincolnshire pub this weekend

A pub in a village near Grantham is getting ready to reopen on Saturday with a quirky outdoor extra bar inside an artic lorry.

The Waggon & Horses in Caythorpe will open at 11am on July 4 and is extending its outdoor capacity to adapt to social distancing measures.

This includes an ‘Edge Bar’ by Ernest Venues, which was designed by Lynx Engineers in Boston and is currently set up within the pub’s garden.

The ‘steel giant’, which was engineered and built in Boston, is an artic lorry with hydraulic powered sides that is accessed via a ramp. The sides unfold to 96 square metres of space with a fitted bar, sound system and lighting throughout.

Ernest Venues will be based at the pub throughout the summer.

The pub have put up their own marquee to extend the capacity further. It is also setting up a 75 inch TV to show popular sports.

Booking is recommended and anyone wanting to reserve a table inside or in the garden should call 01400 273744. When customers arrive they will be required to register.

The Waggon & Horses will be serving drinks Monday to Saturday 11am-11pm and on Sundays 12pm-10.30pm.

It will serve food from a new menu between 12pm-8pm Monday to Saturday and 12pm-6pm on Sunday.
