Man named and charged after Newark shooting

The man who was arrested for attempted murder following a shooting in Newark has been named and charged.

Rudolph Price, 50, of Tolney Lane in Newark, allegedly shot a man in his 30s and also attacked him with a knife on Wednesday, June 17.

The victim has been taken to hospital and has since been discharged after suffering non-life-threatening injuries.

Price remains in custody and will face court for attempted murder with a deadly weapon on Friday, June 19.

Inspector Heather Sutton, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “This was a targeted and isolated incident that has been investigated very swiftly.

“I understand that incidents involving firearms can cause considerable alarm, but I would like to stress that they are incredibly rare in the Newark area.”

“We have maintained a heightened presence in the area throughout the week to further reassure local residents, who I would like to thank for their patience and cooperation at what I know has been a difficult time.”

People with additional information are being asked to call Nottinghamshire Police on 101, quoting incident number 471 of June 17.
