A Skegness stall holder has become the first in the area to be fined and given notice by East Lindsey District Council after opening during the coronavirus lockdown.
The authority said it had been made aware of the pop-up shop which sold second-hand items, at 150 Drummond Road, continuing to operate despite not providing essential goods.
The business reportedly received advice from Lincolnshire Police, however, continued and so was this week given a £60 fixed penalty notice and ordered to stop opening by ELDC until the restrictions are lifted.
The fine can be reduced to £30 if paid within 14 days, and if the owner did not comply with the order they would be commiting a further offence.
A spokesman for the authority said: “Where businesses continue to operate despite being provided with advice and guidance we have no choice but to use our powers to enforce the new regulations and help prevent the spread of coronavirus.”
