Missing Lincolnshire woman’s body found in river

A body has been found in the search for a Lincolnshire woman who has been missing for three weeks.

Police believe the body found in the River Ouse is that of 59-year-old Shirley Cranston from Burgh Le Marsh.

As previously reported, police were investigating her disappearance from her home in the early hours of Thursday, March 12. Police believed she left her vehicle in the North End car park on North Parade in Skegness earlier that day.

Lincolnshire Police confirmed on Wednesday, April 1 that the body of a woman was located in the River Ouse off Clockcase Lane in Clenchwarton near King’s Lynn on Tuesday, March 31. Norfolk Police said they are treating the death as unexplained and they do not believe it to be suspicious at this time.

Lincolnshire Police said: “Although the woman has not formally been identified, we believe this to be Shirley Cranston.”

Norfolk Constabulary said that officers in King’s Lynn were called at 10.39am on Tuesday morning to a concern for safety and recovered the body.

They said: “Police are treating the death as unexplained and making enquiries around identification. A post-mortem examination will take place in due course to establish the cause of death.”
