Further highways delays after contractors’ coronavirus concerns

Another Lincolnshire County Council contractor has postponed the work it was carrying out on the county’s roads following concerns over coronavirus.

The move adds resurfacing works to the B1434 to the list of works the council had already pushed back in an announcement yesterday.

Councillor Richard Davies, executive member for highways at LCC, said: “The contractor carrying out these works has decided to temporarily postpone the final surfacing works due to concerns stemming from the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

“Until works recommence, the site has been made safe with ramps and a drivable layer of carriageway.

“I want to reassure residents that we will continue providing essential highway maintenance services during this trying time to keep the county’s roads safe for key workers and those making necessary journeys.”

Yesterday, the council announced the following works had been delayed:

  • A17/A153 Sleaford Rugby Club Junction – Due to start on Monday, April 6. Postponed until further notice
  • Brayford Way bridge maintenance and Campus Way resurfacing – Due to start on Monday, April 6. Pushed back to summer
  • A46 Riseholme roundabout improvements – previously underway, work has been suspended until further notice (narrowed lanes and speed restrictions will remain in place)

Lincoln Eastern Bypass and the Grantham Southern Relief Road are continuing.
