Coronavirus lockdown: East Lindsey grass cutting suspended

Grass cutting on council-owned land in ELDC has been stopped temporarily after contractors downed tools due to coronavirus.

The authority has reported that there will be disruption to all its open spaces, the foreshore and parcels of land on or near housing estates for the time being.

A spokesman said: “Unfortunately our contractors can’t continue their service as part of the government guidance.”

South Kesteven District Council, which is contracted out to its own EnvironmentSK company, has also withdrawn some services including cutting of verges, small open spaces and amenity areas as well as horticultural and non-emergency work.

However, it is continuing to operate maintenance of Grantham’s crematorium and cemetery and maintenance of larger parks and open spaces.

It is also carrying out emergency tree work.

Most other councils have not yet reported any further disruption grounds maintenance.
