Former RAF accommodation to be turned into flats

A former RAF accommodation block could be turned into four flats new flats for the village.

Dirk Terjung, of the Brookenby Community Land Trust, has applied to West Lindsey District Council to convert the vacant building, which sits next to the community centre on Kent Road in Brookenby.

The planned build will also include the construction of a new car park and footpaths.

The vacant centre is part of a purpose-built village for families of personnel stationed at RAF Binbrook which used to house Lightning jet fighters.

A 54-house estate, including the site’s former Navy, Army and Air Force Institutes (NAAFI) canteen recently sold for more than £3 million.

The village was used by the service used until the station was fully closed down in the late 1980s.

Some of the properties were from as early as 1938.

The majority of those sold were a mixture of two and three bedroom properties already rented.
