Man tries to rob village shop with a hammer

Police are investigating a robbery at The Village Store on the corner of Church Lane, Winthorpe and the A52 Roman Bank.

A man, armed with a hammer, entered the store at around 8.57pm on December 3 and demanded money.

He made off from the shop empty handed.

The suspect was wearing a dark blue hooded jumper, black trousers and grey trainers.

He left empty-handed. Police hope he can be traced by his clothing.

Although there are no shots of the man’s face, investigating officers are seeking any information regarding the clothing shown, face mask and hammer.
