A bank side has collapsed in a village close to Boston as the heavy rain and flooding continues to cause havoc in Lincolnshire.
Roy Tebbs, who works for a building contractor, captured a photo of the collapsed bank side near New Leake Primary School at around 12pm on Thursday, November 14.
Witham Fourth District Internal Drainage Board are currently responding to a report of a stretch of the bank collapsing at Fodderdyke.
The road has since been closed for safety reasons.
New Leake Primary School posted on its Facebook page on Thursday afternoon: “It has been reported to us that the bank has given way between Midville and the school. We’ve reported it to police.
“The expectation is that the road will be closed. Buses and taxis are being diverted.”
Darrell Redford, network resilience manager at Lincolnshire County Council, said: “A verge adjacent to a ditch on Fodderdyke Bank in New Leake has collapsed, so we have asked our contractor to close the road for safety.
“At this early stage, we don’t know what has caused the collapse or for how long the road will need to remain closed. We’ll be asking the local highways team to investigate so the necessary repairs can be arranged.”
