A man in his 60s was hit by a train between Newark and Retford on Tuesday, British Transport Police have confirmed.
As previously reported, all lines were blocked after the man was hit at around 10am on Tuesday, October 15, which caused severe train delays throughout the day.
British Transport Police were called to the lines in Carlton on Trent at 10.19am to reports of a casualty on the tracks. Paramedics also attended, but the man was pronounced dead at the scene.
British Transport Police said the incident is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner.
The tragic news comes around a week after a woman in her 30s died after being hit by a train at Newark on Wednesday, October 9.
