Police hunt for BMW driver after Gainsborough murder conviction

Police are trying to find the driver of a blue BMW found burnt out in the area where a brutal murder took place in Gainsborough.

Kieran Walker, 23, used a machete to attack Jordan O’Brien with such savagery that he almost completely hacked off his victim’s left leg in Scampton Way in Gainsborough on March 27.

He damaged the other leg so badly that it had to be amputated just above the knee. Jordan, 25, never recovered and died later in hospital. Pathologist Dr Michael Biggs previously told the jury that Jordan died of multiple-organ failure.

Walker, of Larch Avenue, Auckley, Doncaster was convicted by a jury on Wednesday of Jordan’s murder over a £2,000 debt.

It all stemmed from a stash of £2,000 worth of amphetamine, which disappeared after it was left with Jordan for safekeeping. Walker then pursued him for the debt.

The trial, which lasted over two weeks at Lincoln Crown Court, concluded on Wednesday, October 2. He is due to be sentenced on November 8.

Police have since released an appeal to try and identify the driver of the blue BMW found burnt out in the area, which they believe could be linked to the offence.

Anyone with information that can assist with the investigation should contact Lincolnshire Police on 101 or via email at [email protected] quoting reference 436 of March 27.

It can also be reported through the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 or online here.

Judge John Pini QC previously told Walker: “The law mandates a life sentence. I have to set a minimum term you must serve. I will hear submissions as to what that might me. Parliament has mandated the starting point of 25 years and it goes up or down from there.”
