Masked group in Lincolnshire Co-op ram raid

A group of masked robbers drove into a Lincolnshire Co-op building and tried to steal the ATM over the weekend.

The incident at the Lincolnshire Co-op on the High Street in Collingham was reported to Nottinghamshire Police at around 11.30pm on Saturday, September 7.

A group of people wearing balaclavas attacked the shutters and the front door to the store before driving into the building. Police believe a 4×4-type vehicle is connected to the incident.

The offenders made attempts to steal the cash machine, but were unsuccessful.

Nottinghamshire Police officers are appealing for witnesses and information after the attempted burglary.

Anyone with information should contact police on 101 quoting incident number 1051 of September 7.

This isn’t the first time a Co-op has been targeted in a ram raid this year.

In April an ATM was stolen at a Lincolnshire Co-op food store in Scotter before it was later found abandoned in another nearby village.

In November 2018, the cash machine at the Witham St Hughs Co-op store on Muntjac Way was stolen.

Less than a week later a digger was found at the scene after a brand new Co-op store in North Somercotes was left with a large hole in the side of the shop during the theft of an ATM.
