Suspected drug dealers arrested in sting

A man and a woman from Grimsby were arrested after weapons and cannabis were seized from a car believed to be involved in drug dealing in the town.

The VW Golf was spotted in West Yorkshire and followed on Monday, August 26. It was observed at around 11.45 and followed by Humberside Police’s road policing officers and tracked by the police helicopter.

The vehicle was then stopped on the eastbound M180 about a mile from the M18 junction using a three car ‘rolling road block’.

Drugs and weapons were seized from the car. Police confirmed the drugs were cannabis, but were unable to disclose any further details about the weapons recovered. Nobody was hurt and there was no damage to any of the vehicles, police said.

A 28-year-old woman from Grimsby was arrested on suspicion of supplying a controlled drug, possession of an offensive weapon and possession of a knife. A 26-year-old man from Grimsby was arrested on suspicion of possessing a Class A drug, supplying a controlled drug and possession of an offensive weapon.

The woman and man have both since been released under investigation.
