Driver in cloned car jailed after dramatic police chase

A man who frantically attempted to evade police at high speed has been jailed for 15 months.

Adam Moore was also banned from driving for three years and seven months at Lincoln Crown Court after a police pursuit on June 16, 2019.

Moore, 32, of Weelsby Street in Grimsby, was spotted by police driving at high speeds and erratically along the A16 Sibsey.

The pursuit came to end on John Adams Way when the grey Honda Civic came to a stop.

Three people were arrested at the scene. Two were released without any further action and Moore was charged with the four offences of dangerous driving, driving a vehicle while disqualified, using a vehicle without any insurance and fraudulently using a registration mark/registration document.

PC Andy Donnelly, of Lincolnshire Specialist Operations, Boston Roads and Armed Policing Team, said: “The vehicle was initially brought to our attention after we received a report that the car had been cloned and the driver was uninsured.

“We took the decision to pursue the car following this information which in turn led to an arrest, charge and jail sentence which is a really good result.

“The defendant is very lucky that he did not cause a serious collision that resulted in severe injury to either himself or another member of the public.”

On top of his jail sentence, Moore has also been disqualified from driving for three years and seven months and ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £140.
