Suspected arson caused significant damage to the site of a former care home in Gainsborough over the weekend.
Lincolnshire Fire & Rescue attended the fire at around 10pm on Saturday, June 22 at a derelict building on Morton Terrace. The building was previously used as a care home.
A spokesperson for Lincolnshire Fire & Rescue said two fire engines from Gainsborough were sent, assisted by two from Nottinghamshire.
The fire was extinguished using four main jets and the aerial ladder platform from Lincoln South fire station.
The spokesperson said: “There was fire damage to the entirety of the first floor and roof of the building. Two people from an adjacent property were treated for smoke inhalation at the scene. The cause was deliberate.”
Lincolnshire Police said: “The cause of a fire at a derelict warehouse in Gainsborough is being investigated. It is thought that the fire may have been deliberately started. No injuries were reported.”
