Police appeal to find man possibly injured in crash

A man from Grimsby is believed to have been seriously injured in a crash in Grimsby. Police are concerned for his welfare.

A silver Ford Focus collided with a black Suzuki SX4 at the junction of Littlefield Lane and Dudley Street at around 2am on Wednesday, June 5.

The man travelling in the Ford left the scene. Police believe him to be 21-year-old Karlis Jekabsons.

Three other men and a woman, who were also in the Focus, were seriously injured and are receiving treatment in hospital. They were also arrested on suspicion of aggravated vehicle taking.

A female passenger, who was in the Suzuki, suffered serious injuries to her wrist and abdomen and was also taken to hospital. The man driving sustained minor injuries.

Detective Inspector Kerry Bull from Grimsby CID said: “There were five people in total in the Ford Focus, four who were seriously injured.

“My main concern at this moment is to make sure the man who left the scene is ok. My worry is that he might have been injured as well but hasn’t sought treatment yet.

“If that’s the case I would ask him to do so as a matter of urgency to get the care he needs.

“We have arrested the other four people who were in the Ford on suspicion of aggravated vehicle taking and our investigations are continuing.

“If you saw anything, saw the Ford Focus in the Rendell Street or Earl Street areas prior to this collision, or have any information please contact us quoting log 39 of June 5, 2019.”
