Lincolnshire golf course up for sale

This story is over

A Lincolnshire golf course over 55 acres of land has been put on the market, providing the opportunity to re-open an existing nine-hole course.

Savills were appointed by joint fixed charge receivers Stuart Jones and Philip Beattie to bring Immingham Golf Course on St Andrews Lane to the market. Offers are being invited for the leasehold interest over nine holes of the golf course. The price available on application.

The course first opened in 1975 and was extended onto adjoining land to the west in 1984 to provide 18 holes.

It operated as a members’ club but by the autumn of 2018 the membership had declined to around 150 members across all categories. The club closed for business on November 2, 2018.

The original nine-hole course together with the adjoining 7,942 sq ft clubhouse, golf shop and green keeper’s buildings were developed on land leased from North East Lincolnshire Council.

These are offered for sale under the lease, which runs for a further 74 years. Vacant possession will be provided upon completion.

However, the adjoining land to the west, upon which part of the 18 hole golf course was constructed, is held in separate ownership and is not offered for sale.

All removable equipment within the buildings which belongs to the golf club Trustees is excluded from the sale.

Director in the leisure and trade related team at Savills, Ian Simpson, said: “It is unusual for an established golf course such as Immingham to be offered to the market with vacant possession.

“It provides an opportunity for a range of operators who might not normally be able to acquire a freehold golf club, to consider re-opening the course with a fresh operating structure combining a range of affordable golf playing opportunities to the local golfing community.”
