A man has been jailed for eight years for armed robberies where he threatened staff with a gun and knife.
Shaun Hutson, of no fixed abode, was sentenced at a hearing at Grimsby Crown Court on Monday after two armed robberies and an attempted robbery.
On September 11 he threatened staff with a kitchen knife at McColl’s on Grimsby Road in Cleethorpes. He also threatened shopkeeper John Patel at Premier Extra Convenience Store on Wellington Street in Grimsby with a firearm on September 20.
The third raid took place on September where he threatened staff with a handgun at Farmoods on Garabaldi Street in Grimsby on September 22.
Hutson was arrested on September 26 when a number of items were recovered from a property on Guildford Street where he was staying.
The officer investigating the offences, Detective Constable Nigel Morgan, said: “These were particularly nasty robberies. The staff at both of these stores were extremely distressed by the incidents. No one should have to fear being threatened with weapons when they go to work.
“I want to praise the victims of these cases for their bravery and the way they have helped our investigations. I also want to thank the public for the information they gave to us to help apprehend Shaun Hutson.”
