The A1 between Grantham and Stamford has fully reopened after a tanker overturned this morning.
It was closed in both directions after a lorry carrying sulphuric acid crashed shortly after 5am.
The HGV driver was unhurt in the incident and managed to escape. The tanker had overturned after hitting a barrier.
The chemical load of 23 tonnes of sulphuric acid did not spill on the road but special assistance with recovery was needed.
Heavy delays have stopped motorists in their tracks for the majority of the day, but the A1 has now opened in both directions.
Highways England has now announced that workers have recovered the lorry and the A1 has reopened north and south bound.
