Co-op’s newest food store will open in Barrow upon Humber next week after investment which created three new jobs for local people.
The store, located on Market Place, will open on Friday, November 9 with an in-store bakery.
It will also include Seattle’s Best Coffee dispenser alongside a wide range of fresh, healthy foods, meal ideas and award winning wines.
There are offers and promotions in and around the store to mark its launch. Students in Barrow upon Humber, who hold an NUS extra card, also receive a 10% discount off their groceries to help them during their studies.
The store will also bring a funding boost to local good causes including Barton Carnival, Barton Junior Football Club and Goxhill Memorial Hall Bowling Club through the Co-Cop Membership Scheme.
Co-op store manager Simon Read said: “We are delighted to have the opportunity to carry out such a significant investment in Barrow upon Humber. Our ambition is to ensure that the store becomes a local hub, a real asset for the community.
“Co-op is moving forward with a clear purpose and momentum. We are investing in our people, stores, products and prices and have the ambition for our stores to be at the heart of local life, bringing communities together and offering great quality products when and where shoppers need them.
“We also want customers to know that they can become a co-owner and member of their Co-op. Our members make a difference locally and simply by swiping their membership card when they shop with us, they are raising much needed funding for organisations who contribute to improving local life.”
