Date for Wild Bill filming in Boston, featuring locals

The proposed date for the start of filming for a new ITV crime drama set in Boston has been announced and market traders could get the chance to appear as extras.

As previously reported, Emmy and Golden Globe nominated American actor Rob Lowe will star as Chief Constable of the East Lincolnshire Police force, Bill Hixon, in Wild Bill after ITV commissioned the six-part crime drama.

It was previously revealed that filming will take place around London and in Lincolnshire from November 2018 and a proposed date of Wednesday, November 7 for Boston has now been confirmed and the layout of the the market is also likely to change.

Local market trader Neil John Hastie (BIG), who has an antiques stall at the Bargate Green end of the market, received a letter from Boston Borough Council about the filming.

According to the letter ITV will be providing payment for regular traders of Boston Market for their assistance with the filming.

Neill told Lincolnshire Reporter: “All we have been told is there’s a film crew coming on November 7 to film on the market and some stalls will have to move position for the day to make room, but will also be compensated for that fact.

“I don’t know if they are looking for locals as extras. As a candidate for Bostonian independents Group (BIG) in May I think the film crew coming to Boston is a good thing as it will show how lovely this historic market town is on a national level and hopefully encourage more film crews to use Boston as a filming location.

“Hopefully the council can capitalise on this opportunity relating to tourism.”
