Victim in Grimsby murder investigation named

A man who was found dead at a property in Grimsby has been named as 46-year-old Peter Craven.

A post mortem investigation on Thursday, August 16 revealed that the victim died from a serious head injury.

Detectives investigating are now treating Mr Craven’s death as a murder inquiry.

Humberside Police said Mr Craven’s family have been located and informed of his death. They are receiving support from specially trained officers.

Emergency services attended at Oxford Street in Grimsby at around 11.40pm on August 15, after reports that Mr Craven was seriously injured. He was later pronounced dead at the scene.

A 47-year-old man arrested in connection with the incident remains in police custody.

A 35-year-old man was also arrested this lunchtime in connection with the death.

Humberside Police Detective Chief Inspector Christine Calvert said: “I understand this incident will be concerning to the local community, however I want to offer my assurance we are treating this as a priority and have a dedicated team following up a number of lines of enquiry.

“I want to make it clear that this is isolated and not related to any other recent incidents in the town.

“There will be high visibility patrols in the local area to provide reassurance and I would urge anyone with information to please get in contact either with us on 101 or by anonymously contacting Crimestoppers.
