Lincolnshire thunderstorm warning increased to amber

The Met Office has stepped up its weather warning for thunderstorms in Lincolnshire to amber.

Friday

A yellow warning remains in place covering the whole county until 2am on Saturday, July 28.

However, an additional amber warning is now also in force for the east of Lincolnshire between 2pm and 8pm on Friday.

Forecasters said: “Flooding of homes and businesses is likely and could happen quickly, with damage to some buildings from floodwater, lightning strikes, hail or strong winds.

“Fast flowing or deep floodwater is likely, causing danger to life.

“Where flooding or lightning strikes occur, delays and some cancellations to train and bus services are likely.”

Saturday

On Saturday, once again the entire county is in the yellow warning zone for thunderstorms.

The Met Office warning is in place from 2am on Saturday, July 28 until 2pm that day.

Forecasters said: “Some flooding of a few homes and businesses likely, leading to some damage to buildings or structures.

“There is a good chance driving conditions will be affected by spray, standing water and/or hail, leading to longer journey times by car and bus.”

Lincolnshire is once again in the warning zone from the Met Office.

Sunday

Whist at the time of writing Lincolnshire has escaped the Sunday thunderstorm warning zone, the county should expect a good soaking of rain on and off throughout the day along with some cooler temperatures to those felt of late.
