Six Humberside Police officers were assaulted in one night while dealing with an incident in Grimsby.
Traffic officers were in the pursuit of a driver who had failed to stop at around 5pm yesterday, June 21.
The pursuit resulted in a minor collision on Burwell Drive.
In the process of arresting the man, three officers were injured. Later, while in custody, a further three officers were assaulted.
The suspect has been arrested on suspicion of failing to stop, dangerous driving, failure to provide a roadside breath test, and assaulting a police officer.
Chief Superintendent, Darren Wildbore, praised the bravery of the officers involved.
He said: “Officers displayed bravery and skill in their actions during this incident, and I want to commend them for their courage in arresting and dealing with a violent individual.
“The injuries sustained by police officers yesterday included bruising, scratches, shoulder, leg and hand injuries. We are supporting those officers involved.
“The primary focus of our officers is to keep those communities safe. They should not be expected to face being assaulted as part of their duties.”
