New homes plan for Stamford

Plans for 41 homes in Stamford will go before councillors in South Kesteven next week.

Planning permission is being sought to build a residential development on a brownfield site off Uffington Road in the town.

Councillors on South Kesteven District Council’s development management committee will make a decision on the application on May 29.

The council’s planning officer recommended that members approve the application.

The development comes as part of a wider development on the site which is being built in phases.

Permission was granted for an 84 bedroom care home and 21 bedroom assisted living block on the site in October 2017.

Now, proposals have been lodged by William May Developments for four one bedroom, seven two bedroom, seven three bedroom, 10 four bedroom and 13 five bedroom homes.

In a design and access statement, the applicant said that the plan would help to provide regeneration to Stamford.

They said: “The development is desirable to provide regeneration to an existing and available Brownfield site, without detrimental impact on existing services and facilities in surrounding area.

“It will provides transient and perpetual economic growth and social consolidation and mobility to Stamford.”
