Lincolnshire Police have arrested three men and seized over seven dogs ahead of a hare coursing competition expected to take place in the county this month.
As previously reported, the force has been tipped off about the planned event for the county, but are not sure of the day or location it will take place.
But on Monday officers searched Baston Fen after they received a tip of hare coursing competition participants being in the area.
Two men from Derbyshire and a man from Barnsley were arrested. The police also seized a Subaru Legacy and seven dogs were seized.
The operation was conducted by Lincolnshire Police’s Rural Crime Officers and officers from Spalding Police, with support from members of the Special Constabulary.
Drone pilots and officers from the East Midlands Operations Support Unit and the Northamptonshire Police Cross-Border Team also helped the force. At the same time, parallel operations took place in Cambridgeshire, Rutland and Nottinghamshire.
In a similar search that happened at Thorney Toll, five men were detained and three vehicles were seized by Lincolnshire Police and Cambridgeshire Police.
Lincolnshire Police have now seized over 70 dogs over the course of this operation.
