Dealing with high volumes of emergency calls on a day-to-day basis can be challenging, but Lincolnshire Police’s Force Control room aims to be more transparent and keep locals informed after joining Twitter.
The control room deals with some 2,000 calls per day and @FCR_Lincs joined Twitter in February to provide updates with relevant information in respect of demand, urgent appeals and other useful information.
Temporary Chief Inspector Mark French believes the continued advances in technology and social media will be of great benefit to their service.
Mark said: “In December 2017 we got a new telephony system that is sophisticated and provides a platform for different mediums.
“It is a more stable system and has a different and better recording system.
“We have the platform to potentially in the future be looking at web chat and other social media to almost be running a digital contact desk.”
