A group of Humberside Police cadets will be giving up their free time this weekend to help spruce up the underpass on Patrick Street in Grimsby.
The makeover, taking place on Saturday, January 13, follows three days of work carried out as part of a joint initiative between Humberside Police and the council to help make the area safer.
The work will also include the installation of new barriers to stop motorcyclists riding through the underpass at high speeds and signs highlighting that CCTV is in operation in the area.
Litter will also be cleared to make the area tidier.
Police Constable Carole Garbutt at Humberside Police said: “I am delighted to share that the Humberside Police Cadets will be helping us in the work that we are currently undertaking in the Patrick Street underpass.
“We have been working with the council and other partner agencies to address concerns of residents and keep the area safe for those that live and work there.
“I hope that the community will support the work that we are doing by keeping the area clean and tidy and reporting any offences to us by calling 101.”
Chief Inspector Jenny Bristow added: “I am really impressed with the commitment shown by the team and the partner agencies in moving this forward and making it happen.
“I would like to say a special thank you to PC Carole Garbutt for her continued enthusiasm and passion throughout the process.”
