A 47-year-old man has died following an assault in Grimsby, with Humberside Police treating the death as murder.
The attack happened on the pavement outside Halifax Bank on Old Market Place in the town at around 4.30pm on the afternoon of Monday, January 15.
The man was taken to Diana, Princess of Wales Hospital but died on the morning of Tuesday, January 16.
An investigation is ongoing to establish the cause of death.
Police are appealing for help to identify the suspect who is described as a white man, aged between 20 and 45, with dark rimmed glasses.
He was wearing a beige or grey waist length jacket with a peaked hood, which was up.
Officers have also said that he was wearing dark trousers and grey or brown trainers.
Detective Inspector Stewart Miller said: “At the current time we believe this was an isolated incident and there is no risk to the wider community.
“Our initial investigations have lead us to believe this attack was not targeted at any specific section of the community and will be increasing patrols in the area to provide reassurance to people living and working in the area.”
