Your guide to Christmas lights switch-ons across Lincolnshire 2017

December is fast approaching, which means it must be nearly time for Christmas!

A number of places across the county are preparing for local celebrities to come and turn their Christmas lights on with Santa on hand to speak to thousands of children before the big day.

Lincolnshire Reporter has compiled a list of places where you can go to see your local Christmas lights turned on.


Lincoln

St Marks Shopping Centre

When: Friday, November 17 from 5pm

Hosted by Lincs FM’s John Marshall, the cast from the Drill Hall’s production of Jack and the Beanstalk will turn the lights on at 6.15pm.

A number of activities for children will also be available on the evening.

Lincoln High Street

When: Friday, November 17 from 5.30pm

Lincoln City’s Danny and Nicky Cowley will be joined by Gogglebox star Sandi Bogle and former X Factor singer Andy Abraham to turn the lights on outside the Guildhall (who are both appearing in the New Theatre Royal’s Aladdin).


Grimsby

Where: Victoria Street
When: Thursday, November 23, 3pm-8pm and Friday, November 24, 10am-4pm

A two-day extravaganza will take place in Grimsby for the Christmas lights turn-on and the Thursday evening will start the beginning of late night shopping at Freshney Place.

Pat Yarborough Theatre Dance School and the Klever K9s will also be performing on the Thursday night.


Boston

Where: Market Place, Wide Bargate and Boston Stump
When: Thursday, November 23 from 12pm

Combined with the Boston Christmas Market, the switch on will take place across the town. Entertainment and a parade will also take place to celebrate the start of the festive period.


Grantham

Where: St Peter’s Hill, Grantham, NG31 6QF
When: Sunday, November 26 from 4.15pm

A variety of activities will be on throughout the day as part of the Grantham Market with people able to meet Santa and enjoy the fun fair.


Scunthorpe

Where: Church Square, Scunthorpe, DN15 6SR
When: Saturday, November 25 from 4.30pm

A variety of fun festive activities will be on display including a market place, Santa’s grotto and a Little Mix tribute act with the lights being turned on at 5pm.


Gainsborough

Where: Marshall’s Yard and town centre
When: Friday, November 17 from 4pm

There will be two switch-ons this Christmas in Gainsborough with the ones in the town centre set to be turned on at 6pm and Marshall’s Yard at 7pm. There will also be Ariana Grande and Beyonce tribute acts split across the areas and a firework display.


Skegness

Where: Hildreds Shopping Centre
When: Thursday, November 30 from 6.15pm

Entertainment will start from 5pm where there will be a variety of entertainment and the cast of Aladdin will be turning the lights on along with the Mayor of Skegness.


Louth

Where: Market Place
When: Sunday, December 3 from 3.30pm

The lights will be switched on by the mayor and local schoolchildren. Over 80 stalls and activities will be taking place throughout the day.


Brigg

Christmas lights in Brigg

Where: Town centre
When: Friday, December 1 from 5.30pm-8pm

One lucky primary school pupil will be given the chance to turn the town’s lights on. Late night shopping will also take place as well as a number of fun activities.


Stamford

Where: Town centre
When: Sunday, November 26 from 4pm

The Stamford Christmas Festival returns this year across the town centre where craft stalls, school choirs and Santa’s grotto will be on display. The event starts from 10am with the lights turning on around 4.15pm.
