One to remember! Preparations underway for Scampton Airshow 2017

This story is over

With weeks to go until the first Scampton Airshow, organisers are preparing for the event, which promises to ‘wow’ audiences.

At a media launch on August 3, Airshow Director Paul Sall and RAF Red Arrows Red 10 Squadron Leader Mike Ling told The Lincolnite more about what to expect at this year’s show on September 9 and 10.

A unique mix of military jets, historic warbirds, civilian display acts and even the RAF Falcons, the UK’s premier military parachute team, will all join the reds at their home base.

The Scampton Airshow will also give visitors the rare opportunity to visit this historic RAF station and experience its 100 years of aviation. From WW1 and WW2 and the famous 617 ‘Dambusters’ Squadron, through to the Cold War when Scampton was a key station for the Vulcan.

Airshow Director Paul Sall told The Lincolnite: “The Scampton Airshow is a brand new event here at RAF Scampton and people can expect a fantastic five-hour flying display featuring not only the Red Arrows but a whole host of other display assets including some from the international fraternity in Belgium.

“I think one of the big difference that we are going to see here at the Scampton Airshow is one of on the ground.

“Not only will there be the five-hour flying display but there will be so much more else to do and see on the ground.

“The theme of heritage and history will be central to our airshow.”
