Fire breaks out after man uses blow torch to kill weeds, says neighbour

Fire crews and police were called to a house in Chapel St Leonards after a fence was reportedly set alight when a man tried to use a blow torch to kill weeds.

The incident happened at around 1pm on Monday, June 12, on Sea Road near The Ship Pub.

Neighbours gathered as crews put out the blaze, which had caused plumes of black smoke to rise into the air.

One resident told Lincolnshire Reporter: “A man killing weeds with a blow torch accidentally set fire to our neighbour’s fence and garden.”

Lincolnshire Fire and Rescue has been contacted about the fire but did not reply by the time of publication.
