Lincolnshire parents prepare for primary school offers

This story is over

Lincolnshire County Council has reminded parents to prepare for primary school offers next week.

Parents who applied online will be able to login to the school admissions website on Tuesday April 18 and collect their offers.

Those who sent off paper and telephone applications will have to wait for a reply in the post.

Once an offer has been collected, parents must confirm or decline it. If they do miss out on their first choice there is an opportunity to appeal the school’s decision online.

The council advises parents to accept any offer, even if it was not their first choice, to ensure that their child will have a school to go to in September.

The number of families in Lincolnshire apply for school in September this year is down on last year but is still high.

Despite this, the council assures parents that most children will receive their first choice of school.

Steve Gamble, school admissions manager, said: To all those parents who have applied online, it’s important you follow the links on the website to collect your offer.

“If you’ve forgotten your password then it’s a simple case of resetting them. It is always our intention to support as many parents as possible with their preferences.

“There are many stories about how stressful the admissions process can be, but every year the overwhelming majority of parents are successful in gaining admission to the school of their choice.”
