Police name man killed in horror A1 crash at Newark

Police have officially named the man killed in a crash on the A1 at Newark.

Grantham man Ian Newell, 52, died in the six-vehicle crash on the northbound carriageway at around 7.55am on Thursday, March 9.

Ian had worked at Lincolnshire County Council since 1993.

He was the business and public protection manager at the council at the time of his death.

A 38-year-old man arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving has been released on police bail until June 30.

Officers are continuing to investigate the crash and are appealing for anyone who witnessed it or who has dashcam footage to contact them on 101, quoting incident 137 of March 9.
