Man dies after being hit by train near Stamford

A man has died after being hit by a train near Stamford.

Officers from British Transport Police were called along with paramedics to the line close to Ketton, Rutland, following reports that a person had been struck by a train.

The incident happened shortly after 9pm on March 27.

A 72-year-old man was sadly pronounced dead.

His family have been informed.

The incident is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner.
