Appeal for good samaritan to come forward after saving Scunthorpe girl from robbery

This story is over

Humberside Police would like to speak to a good samaritan who stopped a 16-year-old girl from being robbed in Scunthorpe.

The man came to the aid of the girl in Scunthorpe Central Park between 8.10am and 9am on Monday, February 6.

The girl was approached by a man wearing all black clothing, including jogging bottoms, a hooded top with the hood up, a beanie hat, a scarf over his face and sunglasses.

He also wore black gloves and Vans trainers.

The man tried to grab her bag but ran off towards Kingsway empty handed when a second man in his 40s, wearing a green coat and jeans shouted at him.

The offender is said to have been white, around 5ft 9ins tall and spoke with an English accent.

Anyone with information about the incident – particularly the man in the green coat who scared the offender away – is asked to call 101, quoting log number 106 of February 6.
