Two specialist dementia nurses have been appointed to support patients in North and North East Lincolnshire.
The new role will see the pair supporting staff, patients and carers at Northern Lincolnshire and Goole NHS Foundation Trust.
Kate Scott will be working at Scunthorpe Hospital and David Welburn will be based at Diana Princess of Wales Hospital in Grimsby.
The pair will be looking at how to make hospital environments dementia friendly and will be supporting staff in initiatives such as setting up memory boxes to help enhance the care for patients.
David joins the trust from Humber NHS Foundation Trust where he worked as a mental health nurse in the older people’s community mental health team.
Kate has spent the last nine years working at the Goole Neuro-Rehab Centre at Goole hospital supporting patients with brain injuries. She held the position of lead nurse on the unit.
Rachel Greenbeck, quality matron with a lead for dementia at the trust, said: “With a growing ageing population and an increase in acute admissions of people with dementia, this is a significant investment which will see much needed support for patients and their carers as well as our staff.”
