Man facing theft and assault charges after Scunthorpe bomb scare

A man will appear in court today facing theft and assault charges after police and bomb experts were called to a Scunthorpe address yesterday.

As previously reported, homes were evacuated on Cottage Beck Road as a precaution after Humberside Police found an unidentified item following reports of domestic abuse.

The item was later confirmed not to be a cause for concern.

Trevor Martin Smith, 35, of Cottage Beck Road, was arrested yesterday morning.

He was charged last night with theft and assault by beating and remanded to appear before the court Grimsby and Cleethorpes Magistrates’ Court this morning (Thursday, January 19).
