Man remains in custody after five hour Immingham firearm standoff

This story is over

A 37-year-old man remains in custody after a five hour firearm standoff with police officers in Immingham.

Officers arrested the man on suspicion of criminal damage, making threats to life and under section 16 of the Firearms Act.

A number of firearms were also recovered from the property on Ancholme Avenue at around 7.45pm on Monday, September 5.

This followed almost five hours of deadlock as armed response officers, negotiators and community officers attempted to defuse the situation.

No-one was hurt in the incident but the road was closed, and people were urged to avoid the area.

Investigating officers are now appealing for help in piecing together the events leading up to it.

Police are especially appealing for witnesses who saw a dark coloured Vauxhall Vectra being driven in the area in an erratic manner from around 2.30pm.

Anyone with information should contact Humberside Police on 101, quoting log number 330 of September 5.
