Gainsborough teen jailed for six years after serious A631 crash

A Lincolnshire teenager has been jailed for six years after a pedestrian was seriously injured in a crash near Gainsborough.

James Smith, 19, from Gainsborough appeared at Nottingham Crown Court on Friday, August 12.

He has been jailed for six years relating to a crash involving a 4×4 vehicle on the A631 near Beckingham, Nottinghamshire on April 26.

A 19-year-old pedestrian was seriously injured in the incident and was treated in Sheffield for a head injury.

Smith admitted causing grievous bodily harm and dangerous driving, but denied attempted murder.

The attempted murder charge against him was dropped.
