An £11.5 million expansion of Riseholme College’s Showground Campus will open to students in time for the new academic year in September.

Finishing touches are now being completed to phase two of the development, which includes a Sports and Health Science Centre and a Health and Nutrition Centre.

The Sports and Health Science Centre includes a gym, a mixed use sports hall built to Sport England standards and a flood-lit, all-weather 4G pitch.

The Health and Nutrition Centre includes modern laboratory and food science facilities.

New courses in sport, food, childcare, public services and tourism are being introduced by the college as part of the campus development.

Jeanette Dawson OBE, Chief Executive and Principal of Riseholme College, a part of Bishop Burton College, said: “I am absolutely delighted we are expanding on this wonderful, modern facility and that phase two of the Riseholme Showground Campus is due to open on schedule in September.

“It will allow us to expand our provision, training Lincolnshire’s future workforce in a wide range of sectors.

“Students will benefit from the very latest facilities and technology – building on the college’s wonderful history and heritage.

“This once again shows the college’s unwavering commitment to land-based education in the UK’s premier agricultural county.”

The £13 million first phase of the development opened last September and was the first new land-based college campus to be built in the UK in more than 50 years.

It includes the latest technology in a flexible teaching and learning space, a Learning Resource Centre (LRC), an animal management unit featuring handling rooms and fully-equipped laboratories, and three engineering workshops.
