Tributes to ‘one in a million’ biker killed in A18 crash

A biker killed in a crash with a car on the A18 has been named locally as 45-year-old Grimsby man Alan Critchley, known affectionately as ‘Critch’.

Emergency services were called to the scene near Ludborough at 4.45pm on Wednesday, May 31 after a blue Suzuki motorbike collided with a Renault Clio.

The biker, who police have confirmed as a man in his 40s from the Grimsby area, was taken to hospital in Grimsby where he was pronounced dead a short time later.

A spokesperson for Lincolnshire Police said: “We are asking anyone who saw the Suzuki travelling along the A18 from the Laceby direction to contact us on 101, quoting incident number 313 of May 31.”

Tributes

A number of tributes have poured in on social media following Alan’s tragic death.

Eve Taylor said: “Just got a message from an old colleague to tell me, absolutely gutted.

“Critch was one in a million, even move me to Loughborough in his camper van when I relocated.

“RIP Critch mate.”

Jenny Clifford added: “Such sad news.

“He was such a great man. Fond memories.”

Paul Freethy said: “Sad news, a real character.”
