Students in colleges and sixth forms across Lincolnshire will be receiving their A Level results.

For many, this will determine choices for university places and whether they will need to go through clearing for a place.

Lincoln University Technical Collge has achieved outstanding results with 100% of students passing.

Dr. Rona Mackenzie, Principal, said, “Our students and staff have worked exceptionally hard over the first two years that the UTC has been open.

“This outstanding set of results is a rich reward, showing that all our hard work has paid off. Our students have secured exceptional opportunities at university and in apprenticeships and I could not be more proud of their achievements.”

Students at the Skegness Academy are celebrating after receiving their results for their A-levels or equivalent courses of study.

This is the sixth consecutive year in which students have maintained a perfect 100% pass rate.

Ben Pearce, Acting Principal, said: “These are a fantastic set of results, which we are incredibly proud of.

“Well done to Lara Oldfield and her team for a sixth consecutively great year. The Skegness Academy wants to wish all of our leavers the best for their future.”

Students at Lincoln Minster School are enjoying A level success today after receiving their results and are now planning the next stages of their lives.

Mark Wallace, Headmaster, said: “This has been an excellent year group, both academically and in terms of their contribution to the co-curricular life of the school.

“I am proud to see so many of our students achieve so well after so much commitment, dedication and hard work for them. 

“I am also delighted for their parents and staff who have been so supportive in helping to achieve these results.”

There is much celebration at Caistor Grammar School as Headmaster, Roger Hale, described the 2016 A level results as “extremely impressive”.  

He said: “Once again, our students have delivered a wonderful set of results and brought great credit to themselves, their teachers and the School.”

With these results, Caistor Grammar School will retain its position as one of the leading schools nationally as well as being once again at the top of Lincolnshire’s league tables.

The Priory Ruskin Academy, in Grantham, has seen 99% of students pass their A Level and Level 3 BTEC qualifications, with over three-quarters at grades A*-C or equivalent.

Lee Steptoe, Head of Sixth Form, said: “I am delighted for our students, and for our staff body, who have all worked incredibly hard to achieve these results.

“It is wonderful to see Year 13 ready to start the next exciting chapter in their lives, with the vast majority heading off to university in September and all remaining students starting apprenticeships or employment.”

Smashing records

Boston High School have smashed previous records with their outstanding A-Level results this summer.

Head teacher Mr Andrew Fulbrook said “I am delighted with our A-Level results. Our students have worked incredibly hard to achieve this high standard.

“They have been very well supported by our dedicated staff and Sixth Form Team.”

Celebrating outstanding results

Kesteven and Sleaford High School is celebrating another year of outstanding A level and AS results with every single student achieving A Level passes in the subjects they took.

65% of A level students achieved grades A*-B whilst 92% achieved grades A*-C.

Josephine Smith, Head of School said: “All our students are to be commended on these excellent results.

“These achievements are the result of their hard work in conjunction with the excellent teaching, advice and guidance provided by hard working and committed staff.”

Record breaking year

Students at the Priory City of Lincoln Academy are celebrating a record-breaking year of A-Level success, with 57 per cent of entries achieving grades at A*, A or Distinction* – up by 35 per cent on 2015.

Mark Wilkinson, Head of Sixth Form, said: “The students and staff have worked incredibly hard over the last two years and richly deserve their success today.

“They should be very proud of all their efforts.”

Exceptional results

Almost 80 per cent of A-level grades achieved by students at William Farr School, Lincoln, were A* to C – the highest in the school’s history.

Today’s record-breaking results are up seven per cent on last year’s and have been described as “exceptional” by headteacher Andy Stones.

Charlotte Jones, 18, from Market Rasen said: “I was really concerned I wasn’t going to get in and had very little sleep last night.”

“I’m so pleased. I am considering a career in teaching or possibly historical research after I’ve done my degree.”

Exceeding expectations

Students at Branston Community Academy are once again celebrating after exceeded all expectations this year with an incredible pass rate of 99%.

Headteacher Peter Beighton said:“These are an exceptionally strong set of results which match last year and, given that was a record year, it is an excellent performance by the students.”

“The students and the staff, supported by parents, have managed to accomplish yet another remarkable set of marks and we are extremely proud of all their hard-work and commitment.

“We are delighted that the standards set by the sixth form at Branston Community Academy are helping so many pupils achieve their goals and enabling them to go onto good universities and careers.”

Hard work paid off

Students at Sir Robert Pattinson are today celebrating the best ever set of A level results for the school.

Headteacher Helen Renard said the results were testament to the hard work of students and staff.

She said: “The joint sixth form has been growing stronger every year and each year our results just keep getting better and better so we are delighted to be achieving another set of record results.”

“We are exceptionally proud of our students and look forward to seeing them go out and make their mark on the world – whether in continued education or in new careers.”

Sir William Robertson Academy’s third only cohort of Year 13 students is celebrating their exam success with the school’s third full set of A2 Levels.

Mr Seb Mann, Head of Sixth Form said: “I am so happy for our amazing students and the fantastic team of staff at the school who have all worked incredibly hard again this year.”

Mr Mark Guest, Headteacher commented: “This is a record-breaking set of results for our students and we couldn’t be more proud of their achievements.

Record number of accepted uni places

According to UCAS, 424,000 university places have been offered to students in the UK. This is a record number.

Despite this, there has been a drop in the proportion of A*- A grades in the UK. This has dropped from 25.9% last year to 25.8% in 2016.

This is the fifth year the UK has seen a marginal reduction in top grades.

Taking the next steps to future careers

Students at New College Stamford celebrated securing their university places and taking their next steps to future careers today.

Janet Meenaghan, Principal of New College Stamford said, “We are very proud of our students who have done incredibly well this year securing their first choice university places”.

“With 100% pass rate across 14 different subjects, the proportion of students achieving high grades has increased considerably. We wish them all well in their future studies.”

Success across Lincolnshire

Nine Lincolnshire schools (30%) achieved a percentage of A* grades above the national average, and 12 (40%) Lincolnshire schools have achieved more A*-A passes at A-level than national.

Ten schools which achieved 100% of pass grades:

  • Kesteven and Grantham Girls School
  • Kesteven and Sleaford High School
  • Spalding High School
  • Queen Elizabeth’s High School in Gainsborough
  • Queen Elizabeth’s Grammar in Horncastle
  • King Edward VI Grammar School in Louth
  • Sir John Gleed School in Spalding
  • Priory Witham Academy in Lincoln
  • Boston High School

Above national average

Lincolnshire County Council has said that the percentage of students passing A Levels in the county is above the national average.
